Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In New York, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across New York run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and New York follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Coming from someone who hasn't had much Malaysian food, it was really good! The tandoori satay was so flavorful and juicy and tender. The Hainanese chicken rice came with generous portion of fried chicken and sauces to eat with gingery rice. Highly recommend. The Anthony Bordain recommended Assam laksa wasn't to my liking - a bit sour and the noodles too slippery but an interesting dish to try. The ambiance is trendy and nice. Bar seating is capped at 4.

OBSESSED. Adorable restaurant with a ton of personality through food and the decor. The dining space is rather small - make a reservation. Robust cocktail menu with unique vessels. Food is better shared. We had the Roti Canai, Papaya Salad, Beef Rendeng, Char Kwetuai, duck curry and mango cheesecake. Perfect portions for 3. Service was on point. Server was friendly, well informed and moved at pace.

We made a reservation for Laut on a rainy Saturday night. Restaurant was crowded, but we were seated fairly quickly. We started with the roti canai, which was truly excellent. For entrΓ©es, we ordered their Char Kway Teow and a basil chicken dish. I was actually pleasantly surprised by these dishes. I've actually lived in Singapore and visited Kuala Lumpur a few times and thought the flavors were outstanding. Highly recommended and definitely will visit again when in Man!

The food felt really light and not too heavy (which is good)! My favorites were definitely the skewers and the naan. The Assam laksa had a nice noodle texture, but the broth tasted a bit too tomato forward and reminded me of tom yum, which wasnβt really my favorite personally. The nasi lemak was also quite goodz I liked how all the different ingredients came together. But the standout dish for me was by far the skewers! The peanut sauce combination was so flavorful and delicious.

The venue itself is genuinely lovely. Walking in, you get the feeling of a traditional Malaysian shophouse, almost as if you have been transported to the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Penang, or Melaka. That said, some of the signage feels slightly out of place, creating more of a hawker-centre vibe even though the restaurant itself does not really resemble one. Service was a little slow, and the food was solid overall. The menu leans heavily into Malaysian comfort food and hawker-style classics: familiar, satisfying, and deeply nostalgic. It is enjoyable, though not particularly inventive or memorable. Simply put, it is very good comfort food. My biggest issue with the place is the pricing. This is comfort food, and while I enjoyed it, the cost feels surprisingly high for what is being served. It does not quite justify the overall experience. At this price point, I would expect either more refined or creative Malaysian cuisine, or, if the goal is an authentic street-food-style experience, prices that better reflect that down-to-earth spirit.
